PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for coating the surface of a metallic material with a high molecular polymer that forms a film of a high molecular polymer on the surface of the metallic material to impart anti-corrosive properties to the metallic material, even if the metallic material is not only a plane plate but also a material being assembled and processed into a complicated shape.;SOLUTION: The method for coating the surface of the metallic material 10 comprises a step of coating the surface of the metallic material with an aqueous silane coupling agent solution and then drying to form the silane coupling agent layer 11, a step of coating the surface of the metallic material 10 having the silane coupling agent layer 11 with 0.5-30 wt.% of either one of an acrylic type monomer, a vinyl type monomer or a styrene type monomer and an aqueous solution or a dispersion 12 containing the polymerization initiator of the monomer and a step of polymerizing the monomer in the coated aqueous solution or the coated dispersion 12 and then drying to form the film 13 comprised of the acrylic high molecular polymer, the vinylic high molecular polymer or the styrenic high molecular polymer on the silane coupling agent layer 11.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
