PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more speedily perform suitable color matching while considering the characteristics of an input color space and an output color space. SOLUTION: In a step S401, the profiles of the input color space and the output color space are acquired, and specified color data on the respective color spaces are provided out of these profiles. In a step S403, on the basis of respective acquired specified color data, a color space compression parameter is set. Namely, the outlines of the input color space and the output color space are estimated from the specified color data, and on the basis of these outlines, the color space compression parameter is found for suitably converting data in the input color space to data in the output color space. In a step S409, while using the found color space compression parameter, color space compressing processing (color matching) is performed on an absolute color space.
