PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IP telephony system capable of avoiding increases in cost, in the case of reproducing holding tones and audible tones in a VoIP terminal.;SOLUTION: A holding tone/audible tone data memory area 231 in a memory 23 stores a plurality of holding tone/audible tone data stored by an RTP packet payload format. An RTP holding tone/audible tone switching function 27 writes either an RTP packet or the holding tone/audible tone data in a DSP 32. A holding tone/audible tone data selecting function 28 selects a holding tone and an audible tone to be reproduced from the plurality of holding tone/audible tone data. A holding tone/audible tone intermittence control function 29 limits inputting of the holding tone/audible tone data to the DSP 32 and controls the intermittence of holding tones and audible tones. A holding tone/audible tone period reproducing function 30 periodically inputs the holding tone/audible tone data to the DSP 32.
