PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dye forming coupler giving a dye having an excellent hue, a high molecular extinction coefficient and good storage stability, particularly good light fastness, a silver halide photographic sensitive material excellent in color reproducibility and sharpness and having good color image fastness and an azomethine dye having an excellent hue, a high molecular extinction coefficient and good storage stability.;SOLUTION: The dye forming coupler is represented by formula (I), the silver halide photographic sensitive material contains the coupler and the azomethine dye is represented by formula (II). In the formulae, Q is a residue forming an N-containing 6-membered ring together with -N-C=N-; R₁ is methylene, methine or C; (r) is an integer of 1-30; in the case of r≥2, symbols R₁ may be the same or different; R₄ is a substituent other than H; (m) is an integer of 1-30; Y is H or a group which can be released by coupling reaction with the oxidized body of a developing agent; -(R₁)_r-(R₄)_m is not linear alkyl; R₅ and R₆ are each H or a substituent; R₇ is H or a substituent; and (n) is 0 or an integer of 1-4.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
