PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite screen image setting method for a mobile phone where a foreground image and a background image are selected from a plurality of images and the selected images are overlapped and displayed as a composite screen image and to provide a mobile phone adopting the composite screen image setting method. SOLUTION: An icon image 'screen' is selected (step 51). Then depressing a determination key of a navigation keys a screen menue is displayed (step 52). Whether a user selects 'screen selection' to change the present image into a composite screen image is discriminated (step 53). In the case of selecting the 'screen selection', a composite screen such as 'clock + illustration' image data is selected from the list of the screen image (step 54). Then the composite screen image is set by selecting 'illustration' image data for a background image and selecting 'clock' image data for a foreground image (step 55). When 'screen selection' is not selected in the step 53, the present screen image is maintained (step 56).
