PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of changing the characteristic of a printing unit according to intention of a user.;SOLUTION: This printing unit comprises a printing head having basic color nozzle rows and a specific nozzle row disposed zigzag with respect to the black ink nozzle row in the basic color nozzle rows, wherein the specific nozzle row can receive liquid agent supply independently of the basic nozzle rows and the liquid agent is selectable from a plurality of liquid agents including a black ink according to selection of a specific cartridge to be mounted in a cartridge mounting part. Therefore, by selecting the black ink as the liquid agent, a high speed black and white printing operation can be enabled using two nozzle rows including the black ink nozzle row and the specific nozzle row.
