PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coordinate input/detecting device capable of reducing items of components, making device structure simple and making manufacturing cost inexpensive in comparison with the conventional one.;SOLUTION: An emission angle θ of light Bn shut off by an indicating member A is calculated based on distance (a) to reach from the center of a light receiving element 39 to its peak point Xn and distance L between the indicating member A and a light projecting means 29 inserted into a coordinate input/ detection area 3a is calculated based on image formation size b and actual size D of the indicating member A by which the light Bn is shut off on the light receiving element 39. And the position of two-dimensional coordinates of the indicating member A inserted into the coordinate input/detection area 3a is calculated based on the emission angle θ and the distance L. Thus, since one for each of light projecting means 29 and light receiving element 39, plural pieces of which are required in the conventional manner, becomes enough, the items of components are reduced, the device structure is made to be simple and the manufacturing cost is made to be inexpensive.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
