PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of an anaerobic waste water treatment system for judging the floating properties of granular sludge in the operation state of the anaerobic waste water treatment system by measuring the bacterial phase of granular sludge not taken up heretofore as a conventional control method of anaerobic waste water treatment to indicate a trouble preventing measure or a recurrence preventing measure after the generation of trouble. SOLUTION: A sample is collected from granular sludge in an anaerobic waste water treatment system and stained to obtain bacterial phase distribution and the floating properties of granular sludge in the anaerobic waste water treatment system is judged from this bacterial phase distribution. The operation of the anaerobic waste water treatment system is controlled by using this judge method.
