PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress unauthorized access and computer virus infection via a network in an automatic transaction device such as an ATM. PSOLUTION: An automatic transaction system connects an automatic teller machine (ATM) 1, a monitoring device 2 and a service terminal 3 via a LAN 4, and the devices can access a host computer 7 connected to a given communication line 6 such as an ISDN line via a gateway 5. The ATM 1 comprises a detection part 208, a countermeasure part 209 and a setting storage part 210. The detection part 208 detects a malicious program infecting a hard disk of the ATM 1 and an unauthorized access via the LAN 4. If any of them is detected, the countermeasure part 209 follows settings stored in the setting storage part 210 to, for example, shut down the network, print on journal paper and stop a customer transaction.
