PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for machining a raceway surface of an outer race of a double row angular contact ball bearing, which method can improve the yielding ratio of products and the productive efficiency by preventing the occurrence of the troubles, such as grinding burn, wheel shedding, and also can improve a degree of freedom of the design of the raceway surface by increasing an upper limit of an angle of a shoulder portion.;SOLUTION: The raceway surface 3 of the outer race 1 of the double row angular contact ball bearing having two rows of the raceway surfaces, on which balls roll, in the axial direction is machined as follows. Two rows of the raceway surface 3 composed of a straight raceway bottom portion 3a and a curved raceway shoulder portion 3b continued to the raceway bottom portion 3a are formed on the inside circumferential surface of the outer race 1 such that the respective raceway shoulder portions 3b are arranged at a specified interval so as to face to each other.
