PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal oxide spherical particle containing substantially no organic component, free from forming firm aggregation and capable of being easily dispersed in a resin, etc., as submicron particles having uniform particle-size distribution, and a manufacturing method thereof.;SOLUTION: The metal oxide spherical particle has 0.1-1 μm average particle diameter in an aqueous dispersion state and ≤26% particle size distribution coefficient S calculated by formula (I): S (%)=((particle diameter standard deviation)/(average particle diameter)×100 in the particle diameter range and statisfies formula (II): S (%)=aX+b (wherein X represents average particle diameter (μm), (a) represents -10 to -6 and (b) represents 15-27).
