PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method with which an α,β-unsaturated amide derivative is asymmetrically hydrogenated to produce an optically active amide having excellent chemical selectivity and enantio selectivity and the reaction efficiently progresses even if the amount of a catalyst used based on a substrate is extremely smaller than that of the conventional method.;SOLUTION: An α,β-unsaturated amide derivative is asymmetrically hydrogenated in the presence of a phosphine-phospholane compound represented by general formula (21) (R11 and R21 are each a 1-6C straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl group or a substituent group (a 1-6C alkyl group or the like); R31, R41, R51 and R61 are each a hydrogen atom, a 1-6C lower alkyl group or the like; R71 and R81 are each the same or different and are each a hydrogen atom, a 1-6C straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl group or the like) is asymmetrically hydrogenated in the presence of a transition metal complex containing a transition metal selected from the group consisting of Ir, Rh, Ru, Pd and Ni to produce an optically active amide.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
