PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for controlling a battery for hybrid vehicles and a hybrid vehicle wherein the fuel economy at low temperature can be enhanced without influence on the life, cost, or weight of a battery and without varying the center SOC. PSOLUTION: A hybrid vehicle includes a battery controller for hybrid vehicles that controls charging and discharging of a battery. The battery controller for hybrid vehicles sets the upper limit voltage and the lower limit voltage with respect to the input/output voltage of a battery according to battery temperature. It sets the upper limit voltage at a low battery temperature to a value equal to or higher than the upper limit voltage at a high battery temperature. At the same time, it sets the lower limit voltage at a low battery temperature to a value equal to or lower than the lower limit voltage at a high battery temperature. Further, the battery controller controls charging/discharging of a battery within the range between the upper limit voltage and lower limit voltage set as mentioned above.
