PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image sensor capable of reducing the deterioration of a reading image due to stray light and also faithfully reading the image of a boundary area, even when a boundary imaging element interval is larger than an imaging element interval without using interpolation data; and to provide its manufacturing method.;SOLUTION: The image sensor includes: a light source 1 for irradiating light to a body 3 to be irradiated; a lens body 4 for condensing reflected light against the body to be irradiated 3; a plurality of IC chips 6 for receiving the reflected light via the lens body 4; and a transparent body 5 arranged between the IC chips 6 and the lens body 4 so as to refract the reflected light, which is made incident to the gap of the adjacent IC chips 6, to the side of the IC chips 6 with the use of a refractive index change area by arranging the refractive index change areas, where the refractive index is enlarged continuously or step by step from the surface of the IC chip toward the inner part, in a part opposing to the gap concerning each adjacent IC chip 6.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
