PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid adverse effects on oil control valves caused by transmitted vibration through isolating the transmission of vibration as much as possible from cam shafts to the oil control valves mounted on a cam cap in a 4 cycle engine provided with a variable valve timing device. ;SOLUTION: Oil control valves 33, 34 to control supply of operating fluid to a variable valve timing device is attached to a can cap 35 which is connected to a cylinder head as a half member of bearings for cam shafts 12, 13 by cap bolts 45. In such an engine the oil control valves 33, 34 are fit to the cam cap 35 so that their axial directions are approximately parallel to those of the cap bolts 45 at positions apart from the cam shafts 12, 13 rather than the cap bolts 45.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
