PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agitating/defoaming method capable of preventing, upon stopping an agitating/defoaming device, a material therein to trap fresh air and of preventing a fresh bubble to arise from the material, and an agitating/defoaming device. PSOLUTION: The method of stopping an agitating/defoaming device includes stopping an agitating/defoaming device 1 configured to rotate and revolve a container 100 including a material M, with the inside of the container being in a vacuum state, and comprises a rotation angular-speed reduction step (a step S104) of reducing the rotation angular-speed of the container while reducing its rotation/revolution angular-speed ratio, and an exposing-to-atmosphere step (a step S106) of exposing the inside of the container to the atmospheric pressure, the step being started subsequent to the rotation angular-speed reduction step.
