PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the welding of contacts under fault condition in an electromagnetic contactor. ;SOLUTION: A contactor 10 of the fault current permission type includes two magnetic elements 26, 30, one of which interlocks with a movable contact 20 and the other of which is fixed above the movable contact 20, and when fault conditions occur, the two magnetic elements 26, 30 develop an attracting magnetic force to open the contacts 18, 20. The magnetic force at least keeping the contacts 18, 20 opened until the current becomes zero, and preferably by providing sufficient time for cooling the contacts 18, 20, welding at the closing of the contacts is prevented.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
