The present invention relates to an internal-combustion engine, notably an indirect-injection supercharged engine, that can run with a burnt gas scavenging stage, comprising at least a cylinder (10) including a combustion chamber (12), air intake means (16) with an air intake valve (24), carbureted air intake means (14) with a carbureted air intake valve (22), burnt gas exhaust means (28) with an exhaust valve (32) and means (36) for controlling exhaust means (28).;According to the invention, the engine comprises control means (44) for air intake means (16) and additional control means for carbureted air intake means (14).
