A method for Interworking between a cellular network and a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) for a service provided by an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS),Method comprising; establish a connection to the WLAN; establish an IP connection to the IMS through WLAN; invoke an IP session and receive a service from the IMS through an IP Tunnel is established from the WLAN to the IMS; establish a connection to the cellular network; establish An IP connection to the IMS via the cellular network; and conduct a handover from the WLAN to theCellular Network, where the service is received continuously from the IMS via the cellular network after the transfer. It also discloses a wireless transmitting / receiving Unit (WTRU) for Interworking between a cellular network and a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) for a service provided by an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) employing the method.
