Two layers (17,18) of reinforcement threads (10) are positioned in opposite bias directions and a flexible carrier (15) is positioned on the layout (16) produced from the layers of threads. The carrier and the layout are sewed together with sewing thread (20) and coatings (21) are applied to the exterior of the carrier and the interior of the layout. The threads of one layer are positioned at an angle between 0 and 90[deg] and the threads of the other layer are positioned at an angle between 0 and -90[deg] with respect to the longitudinal direction of the tarpaulin material. An independent claim is also included for the use of the reinforced tarpaulin.
