Use of certain biphenyl compounds for the protection of neurons and oligodendrocytes in the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS). The present invention relates to a method of treating multiple sclerosis patients by protecting their neurons or oligodendrocytes comprising administering to a patient having multiple sclerosis a therapeutically effective amount of certain biphenyl compounds as further defined in the report.
