In the present invention, there is disclosed a process for preparing transparent photocatalytically active particles of titanium dioxide, said preparation process being characterized in that a solution of a titanium salt, particularly chloride or oxychloride, is subjected to hydrolyzation at normal or increased temperature in the presence of hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA).
