The present solution relates to the use of ramipril or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, optionally together with another antihypertensive, a cholesterol reducing agent, a diuretic or aspirin, for the preparation of a medicament for prevention or reduction of a cardiovascular event in high-risk patients, who do not show any signs of left ventricle dysfunction or heart failure, where the cardiovascular event is heart attack, cardiovascular death or myocardial infarction.
