Method for television measurements and opinion polls consisting of devices (set-top-boxes), which are installed in sample households, are connected to the antenna and the screen of the TV and continuously record the viewing data. The devices are connected to a central Information System (I.S.) with permanent connections and continuously send the viewing data to the I.S., while at the same time they can collect and transmit the answers when these are available. The data are collected and processed by the I.S. to extract statistical conclusions. The raw data and the extracted statistical results become available to the I.S. users via webpages, e-mail and mobile telephony messages (SMS, MMS, e-mail). The data collection is performed via connections for continuous coupling between the devices and the Information System.Advantage of the present invention is that via the Internet, by using broadband connections (such as ADSL), television measurements, opinion polls and electronic voting are performed in real or almost real time with high flexibility.
