The present invention relates to an insect resistant transgenic rice plant, plant cell, seed and progeny thereof comprising a polynucleotide sequence encoding a Cry 1 Ac protein specific event PE-2. Further, the invention provides the DNA sequence of the region flanking the insertion locus of the rice plant PE-2 event. It also relates to a process of detecting the presence or absence of specific rice plant PE-2 event. The invention also provides a diagnostic method for distinguishing the said rice plant PE-2 event in transgenic rice plant. The invention further provides a kit for identifying the transgenic plants comprising the specific event PE-2.
