A device for determining the orientation of a multi-component detector using data from a multi-component seismic survey, wherein a first component of the multiple velocity components is oriented in a first direction and a second of the multiple velocity components is oriented in a second direction, the device comprises : an orientation angle determination component (10) for determining the orientation angle of the first component with respect to a first source signal in the survey; an orientation angle determination component (10) for determining the orientation angle of the first component with respect to a second source signal in the survey, and a receiver angle assignor (20) for assigning a receiver orientation angle of the first component based upon said determining the orientation of the first component with respect to the first source and upon said determining the orientation of the first component with respect to the second source.
