Remote access service is provided between two or more computers on a network to f acilitate a variety of activities, including desktop sharing, web-meetings, and web- conf erences. A f irst computer sends its connection inf ormation to a server. The server stores the connection inf ormation f or the f irst computer. A second computer may make a request to the server to remotely access the f irst computer. The server sends to the second computer the connection inf ormation it has stored f or the f irst computer. The second computer uses the connection inf ormation f or the f irst computer to send to the f irst computer connection inf ormation f or the second computer via direct network connection. From this point on, the f irst computer and the second computer exchange data f or remote access via a direct network connection, independently of the server.
