The protection method relates to the field of power engineering, particularly, to the anti-emergency automatics, and can be used for prevention of a blackout as a result of disconnection of generating sources caused by frequency fall emergency (frequency avalanche). Under the conditions of power deficit the frequency falls off, as a result, the productivity of the gas turbine compressors and of the nuclear reactor circulating pumps decreases, and the cooling in the zone of gas turbine blades and in the active zone of a nuclear plant is impaired. In this case the generating sources are disconnected by corresponding protection, which brings a threat of collapse due to additional deficit arisen. To avoid this, the gas turbines and nuclear plants should be off-loaded by the frequency fall indication, which would inhibit the inadmissible temperature rise in the gas turbine blades and in the active zone of a nuclear reactor. This, owing to the reduced generating capacities, would allow the gas turbines and nuclear reactors to be kept in operation thus making it possible to prevent creation of large additional deficit and, therefore, a power system's collapse.
