the present invention discloses and claims a method of treating a patient with cognitive deficits in schizophrenia by administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of an antagonist of the cb1 receptor as described herein.in another aspect, this invention discloses and claims a combination of one or more of the cb1 receptor antagonist and one or more antipsychotic agents useful in the treatment of psychiatric disorders.the combination of this invention provides synergistic results in that the combination improves positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia, weight gain, and catalepsy.
