The device has a conveyor (12) provided with moorings for holding plants steal. Another conveyor (14) with a mutual angle greater than zero degrees and less than ninety degrees is provided. A control unit (18) controls processing time while pressing the plant stem to the latter conveyor, where a part of a plant stem (10) on the former conveyor is located above or below the latter conveyor. The control unit has an input coupled to a detector (19) that measures a transverse position of flower buds on the plants steal.
