The curved trajectory portion (13) of the transport path includes a guide (8, 9) for the chain (3, 4). At least part of the guide which is in contact with the chain during use moves in the same direction as the chain. The conveyor (1) is an endless one following a transport path with at least two straight trajectory portions connected via a curved trajectory portion. A drive system is provided for the conveyor, which comprises at least one endless chain connected to conveyor sections (5-5'') which form a transport surface for the articles.
