METHOD FOR DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS OF FACIAL PAIN

A method for the differential diagnosis of the facial pain provides for the ultrasonic scanning of temporomandibular joints. The probe at the frequency of 10-12 MHz is installed over the zygomatic arch in parallel to the long axis of the branch of the mandible over the base of tragus at the angle of 38-42° to the transversal plane. The examination is performed when the mouth is open, when the mouth is closed or in the process of the chewing. In case of the internal articular pathology, the arthrogenic type of pain is suggested. In case of the absence of the articular pathology, the neurogenic type is evident.
