A method for diagnosing the pulmonary hypertension in the patients with the pathologies of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems provides for the calculation of the diameters of the pulmonary artery and aorta for analyzing the age-related dilatation of the ascending aorta and the major trunk of the pulmonary artery and the changes in the diameter of the major vessels due to the concomitant cardiovascular pathology. According to the data of spiral computed tomography, the actual diameter of the ascending aorta and the major trunk of the pulmonary artery are recorded. Upon comparing the ratio between the diameters of the ascending aorta and the major trunk of the pulmonary artery with the systolic pressure in the pulmonary artery, the grade of the pulmonary hypertension is assessed.
