Surgical suture material with an antimicrobial surface and process for providing an antimicrobial coating on surgical suture material

The surgical suture material comprises an antimicrobial surface comprising fatty acid (a), octenidine dichloride and/or dequalinium chloride (b), and optionally oligomeric lactic acid ester (c). The fatty acid is chosen from lauric acid, palmitic acid and stearic acid. The low alcohol used for coating surgical suture material, is chosen from ethanol, propanol and isopropanol. An independent claim is included for coating of surgical suture material.
