EXTRUSION DIE WITH EXTRUSION PORTS HAVING A SHAPED EXTRUSION OUTLET

A cutter assembly for an extruder includes an elongated extrusion member (9)having an open feed end (12). The open feed end is attachable in fluid communicationwith a manifold of the extruder for supplying a mash thereto. An extrusion die(22) is supported on the elongated extrusion member. The extrusion die includesa plurality of extrusion outlets (23) formed therein. A cutter member (14) cutsextrudate to a desired length as the extrudate exits the die. The cutter memberis slidable on the extrusion member in a direction of elongation of the extrusionmember. The cutter member is operably connectable at the drivable end (15) toa drive device of the extruder for reciprocatably sliding the cutting surface(18) of the cutter member over and away from the extrusion die. The shape of theextrusion outlets twist the mash as the mash exits the extrusion die in order toform a twisted food product.
