Heating system for melting ice rink surface - utilises compressed refrigerant vapour supplied by refrigerator circuit maintaining rink during use

The plant for heating up of an artificial ice rink utilises the pipework which usually carries an evaporating refrigerant for cooling purposes. The thawing arrangement ensures rapid melting of the ice rink surface. The pipework carries during the thawing operation compressed refrigerant vapour. The refrigerant circuit has compressor, condenser and a separator which is connected via refrigerant pump with the pipework of the ice rink. The refrigerant compressor and the refrigerant pump have each a downstream valve. Upstream of the compressor valve is a branch pipe carrying compressed refrigerant vapour. This pipeline with valve leads to the pipework.
