Apparatus and procedure for hydrolysis of animal carcasses. The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for the hydrolyzing of animal carcasses. The apparatus comprises a hopper (2) for receiving animal carcasses with a crushing system, an anaerobic hydrolyzing tank (3), a recirculation duct (12) and a washing tower (9). In the hopper (2) the carcasses are shredded and a paste is formed that is transferred to the hydrolyzing tank (3), where it is crushed and stirred with the addition of a reagent. The resulting paste is transferred to a slurry treatment system (10).
