Cartridge for detecting at least one analyte in a sample, said cartridge comprising: a chamber (34) sample containment for receiving said sample and retaining said sample; a first conduit (15) connected to said chamber (34) sample containment; at least one detector (94, 96) of analyte, wherein said detector (94, 96) comprises an analyte-sensitive surface (83) and said surface (83) is within said first conduit (15); a second conduit (11) to retain a fluid, said second conduit being connected (11) to said first conduit (15); a valve (58) connected to an opening in said first conduit (15), wherein said valve (58) is closed by contact with said sample; and pump (61, 62) which can move said sample from said chamber (34) containment into said first conduit (15), wherein said pump (61, 62) further moving said fluid from said second conduit (11) towards said first conduit (15).
