A method for obtaining human erythropoietin comprising culturing mammalian cells that express recombinant human erythropoietin (EPO) in culture medium consisting of DMEM (Eagle's modified Dulbecco), F12 medium, insulin, NaHCO3, glucose, lactose, galactose, ethanolamine, pyruvate, glutamine, tryptophan, asparagine and serine, and obtaining human EPO from said culture medium.
