Process for the diagnosis of colorectal cancer (CRC), comprising the steps of a) providing a liquid sample obtained from an individual, b) contacting said sample with a specific binding agent for subunit 3 activator preoteasoma (PSE3 ) under conditions appropriate for formation of a complex between said binding agent and PSE3, and c conditions) correlating the amount of complex formed in (b) to the diagnosis of colorectal cancer.
