A method for diagnosis of colorectal cancer (= CRC =) comprising the steps of a) providing a liquid sample obtained from an individual b) contacting said sample with a specific binding agent for proteinase 3 (PRN3) and a second specific binder for the inhibitor leukocyte elastase inhibitor of serine proteinase type (ILEU) under conditions appropriate for formation of a complex between said first binder and the second binder and PRN3 bound to ILEU (PRN3 / ILEU), and c) correlating conditions the amount of complex formed in b) to the diagnosis of colorectal cancer.
