A system for, and method of, constructing an Object Linking and Embedding(OLE) for Process Control (OPC) compliant data serverfrom a device-specific noncompliant user application and a real-time processcontrol system employing the system or the method. Inone embodiment, the system includes: (1) a generic OPC compliant interfaceobject and (2) a template associated with the generic OPCcompliant interface object. The template is modifiable and combinable with adevice-specific interface portion to yield the device-specificnoncompliant user application. The device-specific noncompliant userapplication is dynamically linkable with and aggregates to the genericOPC compliant interface object to yield the OPC compliant data server.
