An overall petroleum reservoir production optimization methodology permits theidentification and remediation ofunstimulated, under-stimulated, or simply poorly performing reservoircompleted intervals in a multilayer commingled reservoirthat can be recompleted using any of various recompletion methods (includingbut not limited to hydraulic fracturing, acidization,re-perforation, or drilling of one or more lateral drain holes) to improve theproductivity of the well. This provides an excellentreservoir management tool and includes the overall analysis and remediationmethodology that has been developed for commingledreservoirs. The specialized recompletion techniques can be used to improve theproductivity of previously completed individualreservoir intervals in a commingled reservoir.
