USE OF A NATURAL-OIL BYPRODUCT AS A REDUCED-EMISSIONS ENERGY SOURCE

A natural-oil byproduct, which can be produced as a "still bottoms" byproductof a distillation of a feed composition including an animal fat and/orvegetable oil, is used as an energy source. The natural-oil byproduct cancomprise unhydrolyzed fat/oil and free fatty acids; and its emissions uponburning have substantially reduced pollutant concentrations relative to otherfuels. When used as an energy source, the natural-oil byproduct can be burnedalone or in combination with a traditional fuel, such as number 2 or number 6oil or coal.
