MEANS OF PROVIDING ADDITIONAL MODULAR ARMOR PROTECTED BUOYANCY TO TRACKED AND WHEELED VEHICLES

An armor-protected buoyancy module is installed in multiple unit sets ontracked or wheeled vehicles to provide the vehicles with amphibiouscapability. The buoyancy modules can be lifted by two men without additionalmaterial handling equipment. The buoyancy modules are attached to fixedmounting devices that are mounted on the subject vehicle. Existing armorelements may be present to serve as the mounting devices. The armor shellprovided for the buoyancy module protects it in both the deployed and stowedconfigurations.
