Medical systems and devices are disclosedfor passing a needle and suturing a perforation in tissue,that may be employed endoscopically and/or laparoscopically,and that offer simple, reliable and controllable placementof suture around a perforation for complete closurethereof. One embodiment of the medical system generallyincludes an endoscope (22), an endcap (26), a needle (28),a suture (36), and first and second grip systems (30,32)configured for relative translation to selectively pass theneedle between the first and second grip systems.
