Estrogenic extracts of Anemarrhenaasphodeloides Bge. from the LiliaceaeFamily are provided. Also providedare methods of using said extracts toachieve an estrogenic effect, especially in ahuman, e.g. a female human. In some embodiments,the methods include treatmentof climacteric symptoms. In some embodiments,the methods include treatment of estrogenreceptor positive cancer, such as estrogenresponsive breast cancer. In someembodiments, the methods include treatmentor prevention of osteoporosis.
