The present invention relates to nucleic acid fragments of noncoding intergenic zones of a bacterium of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex, wherein said fragments constitute genetic markers for identifying the various species of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex and for genotyping the isolates of one and the same species of the complex, and in particular of theMycobacterium tuberculosis species, by analyzing the sequence of said fragments of the zones called MST.
