The invention relates to a catalyst containing iridium, to the use thereof for converting hydrocarbons in the presence of water vapour, and especially the use thereof for the dealkylation of alkyl-substituted aromatic hydrocarbons comprising between 7 and 12 carbon atoms to form benzene. The invention also relates to a method for converting hydrocarbons in the presence of water vapour using the catalyst containing iridium.
