The invention relates to a sinker device that can serve as a weight for the lower part (2a) of a fishing net (2). The device comprises a flexible outer tubular envelope (3) which is filled at least partially with a granular material (4), especially sand, and which has fastening means (5) for fastening the flexible outer tubular envelope to the lower part of the fishing net by stitching. Thus, by filling this flexible outer tubular envelope with a dense and inexpensive granular material, such as sand, a sinker line is obtained that is economical and does not cause pollution.
